Well, the weekend surprise is available sooner than I anticipated. I present three mods for your enjoyment: Blitz 2 v3.01, Tower Defense Trinity Force, and Project Raptor 7.
First up, let’s talk about Blitzkrieg 2: The Finest Hour v3.01. For the past few months I have been working with Korona of Derelict Studios on getting the Mac-specific bugs ironed out in version 3, and we’ve finally gotten things fixed. There were texture bugs with several of the units that caused crashes, making the Allied missions (and skirmishes with certain units) impossible to play. My testing leads me to believe all the bugs have been fixed, so I have packaged and made the mod available for download. Download from ModDB (1.3GB).
Next up we have a one-of-a-kind mod. Tower Defense – Trinity Force v2.0 Demo is a great tower defense mod for Zero Hour. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued and will no longer be developed by Dibelius. I came across it several years ago, but was never able to work around the encryption until Dibelius made the source BIG files available for download a few months back. You can find out more about the mod on the ModDB profile. Download from ModDB (35MB).
Finally, we have Project Raptor 7. A while back I mentioned I would not be released PR7 due to some bugs, and as far as I can tell, they have been fixed. In the style of TD – Trinity Force, PR7 has been dormant for quite a few years. You can find out more about Project Raptor via their website. Download from ModDB (188MB).

Regarding Vietnam: Glory Obscured, I want to release it as much as you want to play it, but I need to work on some crash-causing code issues. With Blitz out of the way, VGO is the only item on the plate at this point in time, so any spare time I get I can focus on modifying the code for the Mac.

For all of you who are wondering “When is this guy going to release Blitz & VGO? It’s been a long time, and I want to play!!!!1111!!”
Here’s the deal: I have finally isolated the several bugs that cause gameplay-stopping crashes in Blitz. Currently, I am working with the team to fix them, but we have to try several things and I don’t have an ETA at the moment.
With VGO, I found a bug with infantry that will cause the game to crash, and it happens when the CPU plays as well, so there is no avoidance of the crash… it’ll happen sooner or later. We are currently working on fixing this as well.
So there you have it, an update. I’ve tried to roll out bug-free releases that are fun and playable, and I won’t release VGO or Blitz until they pass my tests.

I’ve updated Pro:Gen 2.6 (Director’s Cut). My earlier release a few years ago did not include the cinematic videos. I have since gone back and repackaged the whole mod, so download and check it out.

There were some units in Contra 007 that were missing sound effects, and I have successfully (I hope) tracked down and fixed the problem. You can download the new version of the mod at the ModDB mirror. If you have Contra 007 already installed, just replace the .big file (0Contra007.big). If you are unsure if you downloaded the fixed version or not, the .dmg containing the updated files is 182.9MB, and the initial release (which has missing cyborg general construction mech sounds, among others) is 173MB. The updated 0Contra007.big file is 291.6MB in size. Please note that file sizes will appear to be larger if you are using Snow Leopard (which uses Base 10 vs. Base 2).

For those of you waiting for VGO, the missing unit sounds issue has been fixed. I will be releasing VGO Pegasus 1.4 soon after the team releases the PC version. Exciting times up ahead.

I’ve switched to a new file host (ModDB), and hopefully the files will not be deleted after a certain time (the problem I had with FileFront). I’ve uploaded the following new mods: Cold War Crisis 1.5 (build 477), Mideast Crisis 1.9, and Contra 007. I will transfer the other mods to ModDB as I have time.
CWC 1.5, build 477: Download from ModDB (671.2MB).
MEC 1.9: Download from ModDB (235.8MB).
Contra 007: Download from ModDB (173MB).

Well it’s been a bit, but I’ve slowly been working on things as I have time. Mideast Crisis 1.9 is finished, and Contra 007 is in the packaging stages.
As far as bugs go, I’m still plugging along with Vietnam: Glory Obscured 1.3, trying to track down some of the bugs that I’ve encountered. Blitz 3.01 has been converted and works, but not completely to my satisfaction, so I’m still tinkering with it. Zero Hour’s debugging system on the Mac is virtually non-existent, which makes it very difficult and time-consuming to figure out what is tripping a crash.
I have also updated Cold War Crisis to v1.5 (includes the demo mission & movies released in 2005) build 477, and it will be uploaded as soon as time permits.

FileFront was acquired by the original creators of the site, and won’t be vanishing, which is good news. Shockwave, Cold War Crisis, Contra, and VGO managed to somehow get lost by FileFront… as I don’t remember receiving a deletion notification email (they send them every so often). I have re-uploaded and linked them in the downloads section. I’m still struggling with VGO, but haven’t had the time to really look into it. I’ve also looked into modding the Mac version of C&C 3, but EA seems to have really screwed things up in their Cider port in contrast to the PC version, so stay tuned.

As some of you may know, FileFront is closing due to the current economy. FileFront has been around for a long time, and is the site that many gamers hosted their files, as it allowed for files over 100MB. I will try to find a replacement to host the ZH mods, but in the mean time, sit tight.
